August 2020

Vol.: 2020-2021, No: 1

President's Welcome

Dear Pitt-Greensburg Family and Friends:

Welcome to our community!  As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this semester unlike any that we have experienced.  Our faculty and staff are working diligently to ensure that the learning environment on our campus enables students to achieve their educational and career aspirations.  The flexible learning model (Flex@Pitt) that we have developed is designed to allow students and families to tailor each student’s experience in a way that best accommodates their needs.  We are committed to providing the safest possible environment and most engaging educational experience for all our students.

You likely want to play an important role in supporting your student’s educational experience.  The e-Connection Family Newsletter will keep you up-to-date on campus events throughout the academic year.  However, in the fall semester, the campus will be closed to outside visitors, with the exception of visits to drop off and pick up students as necessary. When we do return to a more typical operating posture, there will be a wide range of activities from thrilling artistic performances, stimulating academic seminars, exciting athletic contests, informative career services events, and many more opportunities on campus.  In the meantime, some of these activities will be delivered using remote modes of delivery.  We are committed to the use of technology to enhance all our students’ academic experience by offering co-curricular and extra-curricular events.  All these happenings are designed to enhance the college experience through social, intellectual, and career readiness enrichment.  Please join us in encouraging your student to take advantage of programs that will benefit their personal growth and development.

When we are able to do so, I will invite you to visit campus and take advantage of our many cultural and educational offerings open to the public.  You can find these in the newsletter, and on the Pitt-Greensburg website.  We look forward to seeing you.

Hail to Pitt!

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert Gregerson, President

University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg

COVID-19: Updates & Resources

As part of the University of Pittsburgh system, Pitt-Greensburg assures you that our activities will follow the latest and best medical and health information and advice as we move forward through the COVID-19 pandemic. The fluidity of this situation means that every planning option is under consideration. Reducing the risk of COVID-19 requires both institutional and individual actions, and students, faculty, and staff have a critical role deciding on the risks they choose to accept.

We know that things may look different as we move through the coming weeks and months, and our plans are subject to change based on the advice of the Pitt Healthcare Advisory Group and the COVID-19 Medical Response Office. Thank you for being flexible as we implement these changes.

Students received a message about the University’s Student Code of Conduct policies and our community pledge to encourage community-wide compliance with our health and safety guidelines regarding COVID-19. Please encourage your student(s) to wear face coverings, practice good hand hygiene, and follow physical distancing guidelines to protect their health and the health of our community. Thank you for your partnership in creating a safe and hospitable campus.

Keep informed with announcements on our operational posture, risk-reducing protocols, and other campus-related COVID-19 information.
